As an archipelago, our shoreline is the fourth longest in the world, longer than the United States of America . The center of marine biodiversity is here in the Philippines --- the Coral Triangle. This Coral Triangle contains more than 30% of the coral reefs worldwide. The Philippines is one of the top exporters of freshwater ornamental fishes in the world. The drying and processing of the one of the most expensive seaweeds in the world—the Porphyra (por-phai-ra) is abundant in the Philippines . What do these facts say about our country?
That the Philippines is an aquatic country. However, how must we sustain our aquatic resources?
