Amber Pichi-Pichi: Good Taste for a Filipino Specialty

Have you tasted something that is ligh on the stomach but taste so good?  Well, during the 2011 Philippine Blog Awards there was no heavy buffet or other rice meals but there was one particular food which I was so into it.  This is the Pichi-Pichi from Amber Golden Chain of Restaurants.

The taste was so soothing and for me perfect for this type of Filipino "kakainin." When you say "kakanin" it is something that is eaten as a snack or in Filipino terms "meryenda".  Pichi-Pichi from Amber comes in two types the coconut one and the cheese flavor although I do not know which I ate that time.

Amber was established in 1988 and since then became known for their original and delicious Pancit Malabon and of course their great tasting Pichi-Pichi.

Amber Golden Plate Restaurant was established in December 14, 1988 located along the busy intersections of Filmore and Emilia Streets in Barangay Palanan in Makati City.

Why Amber?   Well "AMBER" is a resin that comes out from a tree sap. This is golden-brown in hue and is considered and believed to be lucky in businesses.  Keeping to that luck, I guess that is why they named it after that.

  1. What a nostalgic post! Amber's Pichi-Pichi is indeed a standout treat, whether you're enjoying the coconut or cheese variant. It's amazing how Amber Golden Plate Restaurant has maintained its delicious quality since 1988, offering not just Pichi-Pichi but also their famous Pancit Malabon. For those looking to dive deeper into Amber's offerings and perhaps plan their next meryenda, I found a site that provides a detailed look at their menu: http://ambersmenu.com.ph. It's a great resource for anyone interested in exploring more of Amber's delightful Filipino specialties. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece about Amber!
