Food Review: Punta Mandala Restaurant and Bar

Punta Mandala foodie meetup would be one of my most memorable so far, simply because I never expect to meet in person and even talk to Paolo Bediones.  He is one of the owners of this elegant restaurant and bar.  What was the place and the food like?  Well read on and find out...

Let me talk about the place first.  The place is really elegant and I would say it is a mix of hip and formal.  In fact whatever your attire would be it will definitely blend with the place.  It is a South American / Latino food restaurant offering food from South American countries or inspired by it.

They have a stage with a huge LED screen at the back.  They also have two bars which is great and a private room as well for those who want to be private.  You can enjoy live bands every now and then including days when popular bands like True Faith play inside Punta.  For those who want to smoke or enjoy less sound they have an alfresco dining as well.

About the food at Punta Mandala, I have one thing to say that all of them are definitely worth your money and taste buds.  Here are some of my favorites:

  • Nachos Mexicana - Fried tortilla chips topped with Picadillo, Jalapeno cheese sauce and Pico de Gallo.  This one is really awesome and the best nachos that I have ever tasted so far.  I really enjoyed the flavor and the kick.
  • Cuban Corn - Grilled corn shredded and tossed in their 8 spice blend with Lime Aioli, Smoked Paprika and Grated Cheese.  The corn flavor in this one is indeed good.
  • Chicken Heart - the best among the Anticuchos or skewered meats marinated in spice vinegar.
  • Patatas Bravas - Twice fried potatoes with cheese sauce and Paprika Aioli.  I almost ate the whole serving for everyone.  I really love this potato dish, well I think I really liked potatoes as well.
  • Chorizo Burger and Punta Burger are burgers which you will really feel the great flavors in them.  With just one I am sure that you would be full.  Taste so yummy.
Though all the foods were really great some of them needs to have additional kick and thickness like their soups except for their Shrimp and Chorizo Pasta which is already very flavorful.

Tequila Pasta, we think needs more Tequila kick in it as well.

Overall, this will surely be one of the top restaurants for me for 2016.  Congratulations to its owners and Mr. Paolo Bediones as well.  Keep up the good work!
