SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY – As a support to the local farmers, SM Foundation in cooperation with the City Agriculture Office launched the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmer’s Market Day program at SM City San Jose del Monte June 10, Friday.
The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture program of SM Foundation aims to bring sustainable farming technologies and training to both urban and rural communities to help farmers bring food to their table while creating economic opportunities for them.
For 12 weeks, farmers are taught on effective backyard planting and small-scale farming technologies to improve the quality and quantity of their crops.

Nancy N. Aguilar, 59, a proud graduate of Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan in 2015, expressed her gratitude to SM Foundation and all its partners in the project. “I hope this program can further help all types of farmers,” she said. “I now advocate healthy and sustainable crop and livestock production, at least within the community,” she added.
From providing farmer’s training, SM Foundation continues to enhance the skills and knowledge of its farmer graduates by providing market exposure through pop-up booths located at the lower ground floor in SM City San Jose del Monte.
This activity is one way of linking the graduates to prospective markets and pave way for them to become entrepreneurs as they are given the institutional selling experience amid different economic challenges, unfavorable weather conditions, and limited planting space and resources.
The Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan Farmer’s Market offers different affordable fresh vegetables and fruits to consumers and is open every Friday until December 2022.
SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan will also launch the activity to cater the KSK farmer graduates in the communities they serve.
